Buddha means "the one who is awake," and perhaps everyone recognizes this divinity. Buddha was born in Nepal, in Siddartha Gautanana, in 623 BC. in a royal family. His life was privileged, being a prince, but nevertheless, when he decided to leave the kingdom, he was suddenly confronted with the harsh realities of life, such as death, poverty, and suffering. From the desire to understand more; why people suffer, or if this phenomenon can be stopped, he roamed the Earth as a saintly man who handed meditation and austere state that almost made him starve. At that moment, when he realized that that was not the purpose, he began to eat again, sat under the Bodhi tree, where he swore to stay until he found the enlightenment. After 40 days, he found freedom in enlightenment and continued to travel to the world teaching what he had learned. His dedication to enlightenment is the reason why his description is so important for meditation and yoga.
Moreover, Buddhism is not based on a certain doctrine, belief, or supreme being. It is not considered a religion but rather a lifestyle. Buddhism can be compatible with other religions because it does not compete with a set of beliefs, traditions, and doctrines.

Many psychotherapists and healers place a statue of Buddha on their offices to promote and encourage the atmosphere of calm and well-being. You do not have to be Buddhist to have a statuette in the house that represents the Buddha or to wear a bracelet with this symbol.
